Listen to the news
A bench of justices Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rekha Palli of the Delhi High Court expressed their displeasure and said to the Central Government, the Supreme Court has already given instructions and now the High Court is also saying that, whatever the case, the Center will send 700 to Delhi. Metric tons of oxygen have to be supplied daily.
The bench said, “You are part of Delhi and are watching the situation yourself.” Don’t you know Do you live in ‘ivory tower’? The bench also rejected the plea of the Center, in which it said that Delhi is not entitled to 700 metric tonnes of oxygen in the existing medical infrastructure. The bench said that the Supreme Court in its detailed order of April 30 had directed Delhi to deliver 700 metric tons of oxygen per day and not 490 metric tons. Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma, however, said that the Supreme Court had not given such direction. Sharma will give his affidavit on Wednesday on the order of April 30 of the Supreme Court.
The sky is the limit…
The court told the central government in the five-hour hearing, “We told you that contempt is the last option in our mind, certainly in our mind, but we cannot take it to the last point.” We want it to work now. The angry bench said that enough was enough. Now talk clearly. We do not want to hear from you. We do not want to hear anything other than compliance with our order. You will have to supply 700 metric tons.
The Delhi government first demanded less oxygen, should it just let the people of this city be in trouble. The Center continues to ignore the revised needs and leave people to die. That can not be. – High Court
Question on Mohalla Clinic…
The Delhi High Court has also raised important questions on the mohall clinics. The court questioned the Delhi government’s plea of not having enough to use clinics to fight the corona epidemic. A bench of Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rekha Palli said that if you have created the basic structure and we cannot use it in an epidemic then what does it mean? The bench said that the corona is not a symbol of a prosperous society and it can be for those visiting Mohalla clinics. The court has ordered the Delhi government to file a report on it.
Maharashtra demands to increase oxygen quota by 200 metric tons
The Maharashtra government has asked the Center to increase the quota of liquid therapeutic oxygen to 200 metric tons. The state has said that it will help corona management, keeping in view the needs. In a letter to Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gaba, Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte has also demanded 10 oxygen tankers to facilitate the transportation of oxygen.
Police should investigate to obtain and distribute remdesi
A division bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli said that it does not want to direct a CBI inquiry to investigate the cases at present. However, he instructs the petitioner to place his complaint before the Commissioner of Police. The Commissioner of Police will investigate this and inform the petitioner.
The High Court said that if a crime has occurred in these cases, the police should file an FIR and file a status report in two weeks. The next hearing on the petition is set for May 17. The High Court has given these instructions on the PIL in which FIR and CBI inquiry was sought in these cases.
It was said in the petition that the leaders are receiving Remedisvir while the patients are getting upset for it in the hospitals. The petition was filed on behalf of Deepak Singh, Chairperson of Hriday Foundation. The petitioner said that how and where are the leaders getting a large number of Remedesvir even though they do not have the necessary permission for it. Leaders are hoarding these drugs. These cases should be investigated by CBI.
